- Elroy Andrew "Dutch" Coppejans, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 18, 2010. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Vee, and his daughter, Barbara Noblitt. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Stephen Coppejans (Sue) and Mark "Dink" Coppejans (Ginger), his sister Susan Hodges (Woodrow), his grandchildren, Michelle Burden (Jack), Matt Adams (Kim), Jennifer, Stephen, Michael, Alexander and Lizzie Coppejans and 8 great-grandchildren. Dutch proroudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the US Navy as transport pilot during World War II. On his return from the war he received his law degree from Loyola University in New Orleans and went to work for Esso. He retired from Exxon after 33 years. Dutch then worked for First National Bank of Mobile in the Marketing and Trust Department. He retired after a merger with AmSouth and went to work for Mobile Memorial Gardens as the Pre-need Sales Manager. After retiring from there, Dutch went to work for Southern Capital Services for the remainder of his 63 year career in sales and marketing. The family appreciates the kindness and friendship shown to him by the staff and all the lovely ladies at Gordon Oaks, especially his dining partners. Pallbearers are Matthew Hamilton Adams, Alexander Joseph Coppejans, John Patrick Burden, Sr., John Patrick Burden, Jr., Terry Nager, and David Lindsey. Visitation will be held Friday at 10:30 am at St. Dominic Catholic Church until the 11am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by: Mobile Memorial Gardens.
